The Single Bore Multiple Anchor (SBMA) technology has been implemented on anchored structures throughout the world.  The principal concept that underpins the technology is the recognition that load transfer mechanisms in grouted anchor tendons limits the load capacity through progressive debonding, and this is particularly relevant in soil and weak rocks. This concept is acknowledged in many of the leading ground anchor standards throughout the world including:

  • BS8081: 2015;
  • EN1537: 2013;
  • EN ISO 22477-5: 2018;
  • RTA QA Specification B114 Ground Anchors Lump Sum (2007)
  • Post Tensioning Institute – Recommendations for prestressed rock and soil anchors (2014).

Permanent SBMAs satisfy the rigorous criteria for protection of the steel tendon from the environment by incorporating Double Corrosion Protection in accordance with British and European standards.
